Where To Stay in Lanzarote

March 30th, 2009 No comments

The small Canary Island of Lanzarote has been welcoming tourists for over forty years. And as a result offers a whole raft of high quality holiday accommodation options. Encompassing everything from small studio apartments through to top end luxury villas and luxurious five star hotels. In locations across the island.

Canary Islands holiday accommodation is very reasonable and in particular the choice of Lanzarote hotels suits most travellers budgets.

The best and biggest selection of apartments in Lanzarote can be found in the island’s oldest resort of Puerto del Carmen. Which was the spot where tourism first took off on Lanzarote back in the late 1960´s. Springing up around the Old Town harbour area and expanding rapidly. To the point where today the resort now stretches some 8km from the big beach at Los Pocillos through to the upmarket residential enclave of Los Mojones.

Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote´s oldest and most popular resort. And is currently undergoing a real transformation. As island authorities are investing millions of euros to improve facilities and amenities in order to ensure that Puerto del Carmen remains competitive for decades to come. As newer destinations such as Dubai and Egypt start to vie for the attention of British tourists.

Despite it´s popularity Puerto del Carmen is serviced by only two main Lanzarote hotels. The San Antonio and the Los Fariones. With the bulk of this type of accommodation located in the southern resort of Playa Blanca. Which boasts a strip of new four and five star establishments along the seafront – all offering very reasonable room rates.

Playa Blanca makes for an ideal holiday destination – especially during the winter months. As the resort enjoys the best weather and climate on Lanzarote. Thanks to its location at the southern tip of the island just across the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. Playa Blanca is also a relatively young resort – having only evolved over the last ten years. Which means that most amenities are still virtually brand new.

Playa Blanca also boasts the highest concentration of holiday villas in Lanzarote. As unlike the older resorts on the island these were integrated into the development blueprint from the word go. Some of the best of these properties are located in and round the Rubicon Marina – providing an atmospheric backdrop for a relaxed holiday on the island.

One of the many plus points for visitors to Lanzarote is that the island is manageably small. Measuring around 58km by 34km. So whatever resort is selected sightseeing is easy and manageable. And car hire in Lanzarote is much cheaper than in many other holiday locations. With prices starting from as a little as €17 per day. Whilst petrol currently costs around €0.80 a litre.

Making the most of your trip to the island is very easy given the great value of car hire in Lanzarote, and a quick visit to the Lanzarote Guide book website will show you a whole host of other places to visit.

Australian Tourist Visa: Do’s And Don’ts

March 29th, 2009 No comments

Nearly all countries that you’d like to go to would require you to request for a visa before you can travel into that country. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship requires you to request for Australian visa before you can begin your adventures in this huge continent of different animals of the land and water and the fascinating culture fusion it has fostered.

The first thing you should do is go to the closest consulate or embassy in your vicinity and request for an Australian tourist visa. But if you have no time and can’t manage to travel to the closest visa application center (your area may not have an embassy or consulate), in that case the Australian government offers an online visa transaction, the Electronic Travel Authority or the ETA. You can request for one right in your own home or office, even on a coffee shop provided that there is an internet connection. Therefore it’s a hassle-free transaction which needs not much time and effort on your part.

There are basically four tourist visa options for those who plan to go to Australia. One is the ETA, and the others are the eVisitors, the tourist visa and the sponsored family visitor visa. Typically, you can stay for a maximum of 12 months on a tourist visa. The ETA and eVisitors only allows for a limited period of three months while the tourist visa is for a maximum of twelve months. On these visas, you are not permitted to work. However, you can study in Australia for as long as the length of the course you will take is well within your length of stay. And remember, you can not apply for another type of visa while in Australia, but you can request for an extension of your visa while there. If you are travelling as a family or group with children, you should also secure each member a passport and a tourist visa. Also make sure that you have every pertinent document like your birth certificates.

Your travel to Australia doesn’t have to be a problem. Isn’t a vacation intended to be a time to relax and not think about the pressures of work? So visit Australia with all your documents in order and it will be an enjoyable adventure indeed! Bear in mind that you should not work if you have your Australian tourist visas and you should not extend your stay. However do arrange your itinerary and move across the red desert into the lush forests and the white sands of the continent. And please do enjoy your stay because this will be a unique experience although you are always free to visit again, each visit is different and each experience is unique!

Rural Holiday Cottages of Dorset & Hampshire

March 28th, 2009 No comments

A break in the countryside can be the perfect way to relax and to spend some time with your loved ones. I remember staying at some Holiday Cottages in Hampshire when I was a child and also some in Dorset and they were always a good way to recharge.

The holiday cottages in Hampshire were set in a lovely rural setting, where we could visit local tourist attractions. We were also located near to the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton so we could go shopping and visit the docks if we wished to do so. The rural holiday cottage in Hampshire was a listed building that had been restored by some specialist conservation builders in Somerset. They had managed to do an excellent job repairing the cottage to it’s original form and this made are stay even more enjoyable as we would often sit in front of the window and play board games.

The self catering holiday cottages in Dorset we had were situated just outside of Dorchester, which allowed us to visit all the local tourist attractions that can be found in the region. This meant we got to have great days out at places like Monkey World, Moors Valley Country Park and we took a trip to see the Cerne Abbas Giant.

The Dorset Cottages was slightly different to the holiday cottages in Hampshire. It was still a rural cottage but it had more modern appliances as it wasn’t confined by the same listed building legislation as the one in Hampshire. Dorset is a county that has a healthy mix of modern towns and business areas, whilst also keeping some of its rural mystery with its beautiful beaches and villages. Staying in Dorset cottages can be very rewarding for people of all ages; the beach gives a great experience for all, allowing a mix of relaxation with plenty of entertainment for kids of all ages.

Brilliant Places to Visit in Liverpool, England

March 25th, 2009 No comments

Liverpool, once the second city of the British Empire, has, since WOrld War II been in decline. In recent years there has been a remarkable increase in investment with the centre of the city undergoing regeneration. In 2008 Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture for the full twelve months there were countless events ranging from world class concerts to superb art exhibitions. Now the year has passed what is there to draw tourists to this vibrant city? Well there are certainly a number of new Liverpool hotels to satisfy all tastes. In the following article I introduce you to three visitor attractions in Liverpool.

Liverpool Anglican Cathedral

Liverpool is renowned for having two cathedrals: the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral and the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. When John Charles Rye was nominated Bishop of Liverpool in 1880, ironically Liverpool did not have a cathedral at that time. Eventually, after a lot of discussion, the powers that be agreed that a cathedral was required. In 1902, they chose to hold an open competition for the design of the cathedral. The winning design was chosen in 1903, and astonishingly, was a design by student Giles Gilbert Scott, who had no preceding construction experience. Another architect, George F. Bodley, was nominated to work with Scott, and oversee all designs and construction works. King Edward VII laid the foundation stone in 1904, and in 1910, the first part of the cathedral, the Lady Chapel, was finished.

Albert Dock

Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg, whom the docks were named after, opened the docks in 1846. The docks were extremely busy throughout the years, but regretably they had to close to shipping in 1972. For many years the docks lay quiet and derelict, until the 1980’s when they were redeveloped with funding from the Merseyside Development Corporation. The dock consisted of five warehouse buildings, all of which are Grade I listed, making the Albert Dock complex the largest set of Grade I listed building in the United Kingdom. The docks are now home to a variety of visitor attractions, including the Tate Liverpool and the Merseyside Maritime Museum.

Tate Liverpool

Situated at the Liverpool’s waterfromt, as part of the Albert Dock complex, is Tate Liverpool. Since opening in 1988, the Tate, for a short time, was the largest gallery of contemporary and modern art in the United Kingdom, outside London. The Tate is a very popular visitor attraction in Liverpool, with more than 600,000 visitors through its’ doors each 12 months. The gallery is in one of the 5 converted warehouses orignally converted by James Stirling. However, the building had to undergo further refurbishment in1988 to create more gallery space. In 2007 the foyer was redesigned, giving the gallery a more modern appearance and better proportions in the reception area.

As well as the three visitor attractions mentioned above Liverpool has a great many more. As well as this there are many, many more not too far away, perfect for a day visit. If you are planning to spend time in Liverpool you may wish to take a look at our web site which has a comprehensive list of Liverpool hotels and accommodation as well as a selection of serviced apartments in Liverpool.

Savor Your Vacation In Australia While Earning When You Have Your Australian Working Holiday Visas

March 22nd, 2009 No comments

Nothing seeps the excitement out of an escapade faster than the plain truth that you do not have sufficient money to fund the entire vacation. You have sufficient funds for a ticket to Australia and some left for daily expenses for maybe a month, if you’re going to really tough it out on the budget, but otherwise, it’s going to be hard making ends meet.

There’s really not much to be anxious about particularly if your request for an Australian tourist visa is approved. You can obtain a job to finance your vacation by working in Australia. Now this is very interesting, isn’t it? Then please do read on.

The Australian government has a mutual working holiday visa agreement with nineteen other countries, namely: Canada, Japan, Ireland, Korea, Germany, Denmark, Malta, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Cyprus, France, Estonia, Italy, Belgium, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. If you are a lucky passport holder of any of these countries then you can be able to request for an Australian working holiday visa.

The application must be made from offshore Australia; if you are already in Australia when you became aware of this program then you will not be able to apply. Other qualifications is that you should be between ages 18 and 30, and without dependent children. You must also apply 12 months prior to your plan of traveling to Australia. If you have entered Australia on this visa before, you can not apply for another one. You must not have substantial criminal record and substantial medical condition. Substantial criminal record refers to an imprisonment of 12 months or more, two or more terms of imprisonment amounting to two or more years, and acquittance consequent detainment in a mental facility due to mental instability or insanity. There is medical concern if you have stayed for more than three consecutive months in the recent five years in a country with a high health risk.

Take note that on the Australian working holiday visas, you are only allowed to work as a temporary or casual worker for not over six months with one employer. You will be paid in accordance with Australian employment terms and condition. You get the opportunity of applying for a second working holiday visa if you have worked in a key producer business, residential and non-residential construction industry for over three months.

With this data, you will certainly have an enjoyable Australian adventure. Even though you are short on dough, you can still have a memorable experience if you get hold of the holiday working visa. It can help you earn more while on holiday. This is most likely the greatest vacation plan you can experience. So arrange your vacation, request for a visa and begin looking for a job online.

Go To Australia Even On A Limited Budget By Acquiring An Australian Working Holiday Visa

March 14th, 2009 No comments

You have always considered a vacation to Australia which is the backpacker’s ultimate destination with its amiable and warm people, wonderful variety of places you can visit, from deserts to plains to forests to the beaches and the teeming waters surrounding the continent, and not surprisingly, the lush cultural heritage Australia has acquired from the native Aborigines, the pioneering free settlers and prisoners, and the large number of immigrants the Land Down Under has attracted over the decades. But there is just one hitch in this great plan and that is you don’t have cold hard cash…so what can you do? Well, the perfect solution to that is to request for Australian working holiday visas.

Unfortunately, you can’t afford to enjoy a worry-less Australian vacation if you don’t have enough cash to support you over your stay. One way to handle this predicament is to find a temporary employment in Australia whilst having a holiday. To make this great scheme perfectly legal and official, ask for an Australian working holiday visa instead of applying for a tourist visa. You can backpack all the way from Sydney to Perth to Darwin and back again if you have the resources to take pleasure in the tourist attractions.

Traveling on a shoestring across Australia is not difficult because there is always a need for an extra hand in the thriving economy. There is usually a vacancy in the plant cultivation, animal or livestock raising, tree farming, fishing, and construction. So don’t worry about that trip to the outback because in no time you will be able to come up with enough money to begin your adventure. Just remember that your visa only allows you to stay for a maximum of six months with an employer. But you always have the option of extending your working visa as long as you have completed the required seasonal or construction work, which is typically a minimum of three months. One more word of advice though, you shouldn’t enjoy working too much, remember you are not in Australia to work, you’ll be going there for a backpacking holiday, it just so happened that you are short on finances and need to earn some extra cash.

Isn’t it the most excellent plan? A backpacking adventure and simultaneously you are earning money to finance your adventures. Then might as well request for an Australian tourist visa with the special benefit of working in the country. An astounding experience waits for you in Australia. You are going to enjoy a unique experience so don’t allow this chance go by. Traveling on a restrained budget to Australia can be fun and can even be life altering. What more can you want? A holiday and some spare cash is such a great deal!

Facts About Caribbean Travel Guides

March 10th, 2009 No comments

All there is to know about the vacation destination of your dreams that is exactly what a Caribbean travel guide offers. But are Caribbean travel guides really godsend? Or are they just patronizing materials designed for commercial purposes? For more information visit Guide training

Well, theyre a little of both actually. After all, the people behind Caribbean travel guides do need a source of income in order to continue to publish their guides. But a tremendous amount of research has been placed in these guides to just dismiss them as useless resource material.

What else is more nifty, informative and convenient than a Caribbean travel guide?

Sure, the Internet may prove more updated when it comes to information, but you cant carry the Internet everywhere. And believe it or not, its always much more gratifying to pull out a Caribbean travel guide from your carry case, flip a few pages open, then slip it right back when youre tried of reading. It sure beats having to wait in the airport, sitting bored silly and wondering whether or not your flights going to be delayed.

That said, dont cling to travel guides religiously. Many travelers make that mistake. They are not the bibles that they are made out to be by some people. You should know that published materials, including travel guides, are out of date the moment they are published, because by then, there would have been new updated material that came up and it would be too late to include them. Go to nature guide for more information

So, how are you supposed to use Caribbean travel guides then? How would you know which information to believe and which facts are outdated? Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to that. To get the most out of your Caribbean travel guide, use them sparingly for basic orientation. So once you have the basics right down to a tee, go out there and discover the towns and cities on your own. That is, after all, what traveling is all about adventure and discovery of new things. At the very least, when all other signs look foreign, the information on museums and places of interest are great.

However, when it comes to hotels and restaurants, each to his own taste and budget. Remember that bargains rise in price with popularity, so theres every bit of chance that that hot new deal in your Caribbean travel guide isnt much of a deal anymore, considering how pricey it has become. And then sometimes, too, the places get easily full with foreigners and travelers like you, so you cant always expect your Caribbean travel guide to point you in the right place all the time.

Then, if you do wander around on your own, then you will surely find quality rooms with reasonable prices. They may be located in out-of-the-way places that Caribbean travel guide writers may not know about. Remember that because you in the destination, you are in far better place to get what you want out of your vacation.

So to close it off, dont be a sad type who writes to say that it wasnt like what you said in the book. Heres a tip: open your eyes and explore for yourself! Visit field guide training for further information.
